Each foot upon sand the shore of this shrinking lake murky blue and grey in dried underbrush my feet run past an aged root lizards run from me this year's Pelicans have not returned to the Lake it seems only me here the delicate ecology of desert lake ignores my presence I am more foreign than the drying of the lake or the lack of rain A Hidden City Garden
Behind the brown lawns

Digging for Crystals at Crystal Peak Haiku
Lodgepole shade granite, hidden scented Bitterbrush, in cones and needles drive in Sierra's children seatbelted and thrown into these mountains through the earth one sees the glint of geometric, life carbon well placed here with our shovels in mountains hard rocky earth to mine raw crystal in darkened evening ourselves parked at the graveyard many buckets full under the blossoms that refract off the moonlight our quartz turned dark black Pulling Weeds In September
Under the shadow
