THE COURTIER POETS
Greville's was a constant revisor. He would never let his lines be and spend most of his time reviewing and changing. This need for perfection is seen in all his poems after close scansion.

The day before, the Queen appointed Sir Walter Ralegh as her advisor, it rained. Who would take advantage of this rain but Sir Walter Ralegh who had proven himself fearless when fighting with the Huguenots in France.

Sir Thomas Wyatt seemed to find himself in the lion's den. According to stories of his life he encountered his first lion as a child and his second, the King of England.
His fever had spiked and he could hardly see the nurse as she walked to his bed. Like his wounds his dreams had become nightmares. He struggled to find a clear thought in his muddy mind.
He remembered his time with Mary in Ireland. Visions of green pastures where he led Mary on walks and the gardens where he would sit and work on his essays. |
