Between stretch of space Where precious seedling grew Into infant pine When we walked to stream your Birthday at Callahan impromptu lean to Space enough to lean your smiles were from ear to ear we stood hand in hand you jumped rock from rock back over the stream to play on crowded playground where your friends gathered in the shade of aged pine to smile at your gifts |

In these Decembers we remember when days changed along with the snow each Birthday a calm before the whiteout of snow a moment of peace smells of cinnamon and pine trees in the wind the joy of your laugh you are growing fast as fast as the melting snow around gathered friends your birth is our warmth celebrate every moment you blow out candles energy of youth seems to spread between your friends needing to climb, play battered old swing set swinging with the passing time or our leafless trees |
